A Sign of Life

I didn’t die to ease your life
To fill your wallet
Or fix your wife

I wasn’t true so you could lie
Or turn away
But learn to die

I wasn’t mocked that you’d be safe
But sent a sword
So life would chafe

My blood was shed to set you free
For eagles soar
In liberty

Die to your flesh and live for Me
The cross you need
If you will be

The sons of God borne out of strife
The fight within you
A sign of life

About Us

Central, Texas, United States
We are the Walters family. I am an office worker and my wife, Lora is my helper. We live in sunny, South Texas. We have both been Christians for over 20 years and love to share about God's Grace to us. Writing has been a hobby for me for about 27 years. The earliest three poems are The Road, The Wise Ass and Daybreak. I wrote them 27 years ago. I quit after that. I was released from prison and had to go back to work. What can I say? Jail is where I met the Savior. He was responsible for the inspiration. The state gave me time to write (That was 34 years ago, I haven't been back even one time since). I didn't pick up a pen for the next 33 years, until I started doing it again a year or so ago when my wife became ill and I had a lot of extra time on my hands while she was convalescing. Once I did a few articles and poems I was hooked and started working on the crazy story at the bottom of the list. I like that, but it's probably not very good, or at least needs a lot more work.
